... I celebrated my birthday ... you may remember the 2 theatre trips ...... they were part of my presents x THEN to-day my birthday was extended because my friend and her daughter ....
took me to Manchester...
We had a ride on a tram .. a walk around the shops ..and then went for afternoon tea HERE..
YES ... the Hilton!! we had the most wonderful time x When the waiter found out we were celebrating my birthday just LOOK ...
they brought me this special plate .. with REAL gold sprinkled on the fruits xx

the food and tea were wonderful ...
and Sue and her daughter had a little extra celebration ...
A wonderful way to extend my birthday x OF COURSE when I came home I had this...
to deal with! WELL I did leave them alone!! x they are not sitting with me ... and having problems looking at me ! He-He .. they will come round when they want something xx

The workmen are still here .. they are noisy and filling the street! .. and making DUST.. I hope you realise that at some point I am going to have to DUST the furniture!!!! Yesterday a neighbour and myself watched one of them reverse a digger into one of the holes!! The entertainment value gets better every day!!
Yesterday the sun shone and it was lovely and warm.... SO out we went x We visited a Tudor Manor House close to us...... Little Morton Hall...
OR as it should be called ..The Crooked House! It was originally built during the reign of Henry VIII as a 2 story house ... then at a later date they decided to add the Long gallery..
on the top! The only 2 weight bearing walls are at the ends ... which accounts for the LACK of any straight lines in the place! EVEN the stairs are curved..
There was lots of inspiration for quilting patterns ..

....quilt group meeting in Sandbach, this was the night of the chopkey demonstration..
all the ladies made one xx makes me so happy when folks have a go xx .. makes all the preparation worth while xx

.....and decided that if we were mixing things up and putting a modern spin on them .... I would NOT make a quilt ..OR .. a conventional wall hanging .. BUT I would make a ..
BANNER x I used a cheap fabric .. bought at the Malvern show .. for the back piece..
the two pieces are only connected at the top block ... I hand quilted and embellished the top piece..
I have to tell you I had SUCH fun with this .... I will have to think how I can mix up the next 6 months worth of blocks xx
When I opened my front door at 07.30 this morning THIS..

The word was ...PUMP !! This had me stumped! Then I went out the back and remembered ...
this was bought .. many.. years ago to blow up a LARGE .. HUGE .. even ball! Then maybe has been used 3 time since! WHY do we do that?... but then WHY have I kept it? .. beats me lol x
WHILE I'm on the subject of .....WHY?... Sam hates my neighbours (5) cats .. and does his best to catch them .. they sit on a 6ft plus wall well out of reach and STARE at him ! Last week in pursuit of his aim .. he broke off a plant in the garden.....

WHY?.. I don't have an answer to that either!!
AND ... 2 weeks ago I had a letter from The National Grid saying that they were going to replace the old gas pipes with new ... IN SEPTEMBER.
Then 1 week ago I had another letter giving the date ...05.09.2014 as the week they will be in our street ....SO ... WHY is our street full of Irishmen with digging equipment... and looks like this...

... fathers day tomorrow I thought I would do a little baking ... out came the pinny..
and on went the oven xx We are going to my sons for dinner .. and his and my dads favourite cake is carrot ....SO...
CARROT cake it is ...
and if the oven is on anyway ... why stop at just one?.... ..
....brownies for the rest of us will do nicely thank you xx I find the only problem with home baking is... it tastes so damned good ... you have to eat it ALL!! lol x I think it must be the love that's baked into it xx

....wonderful night at the theatre on Wednesday ...
The singing and dancing was wonderful .. and we all had a great time x The only very minor niggle .. for me .. is that I thought Jason Donovan was taller!! I don't know why this matters.. but it does!! lol x .. didn't spoil the night though x
I was out again LAST night at Sandbach quilt group meeting ... I launched the latest challenge ... all members were given a bag...
unbleached cotton .. which they have until September to decorate .. in ANY style .. all to be entered into a raffle when they are returned so that once again they DO NOT get to keep their own bag .. and encourages sharing and mingling in the group x... now we will sit back and see what they produce xx They were asked for £1 to cover costs and hopefully we will have a little bit to add to the funds at the end too x ONE person objected .. and also stated that the challenges are not working and no-one likes them ... WELL 24 ladies paid the price and took a bag home xx mmmm know who I will be taking notice of xx
We are off OUT AGAIN tonight ... we are off to see THE MOUSETRAP at our local theatre .. www.crewelyceum.co.uk .. it is a joint birthday present for me and mum .. she has HAD her birthday .. while I am still waiting xx lol x I will report back .. but of course NOT about the ending !! lol x

It is a Rainbow Scrap Challenge .. each moth there is a different colour to pull from your stash and make ...SOMETHING xx I am a BIG fan of YELLOW so it seems the perfect time to join in x
I found some interesting YELLOWS in my garden...
NOW I am off to look in my stash to see what I can find ...... then ALL I have to do is decide WHAT to make xx
