THE WEATHER....

..... today is ....

 

now this is not much to many of you ... but for us here in Crewe this is an ANNUAL event.. and sometimes NOT AT ALL!.. so its news for us xx lol xx

SO... Im not going out in that .. let the rain come and take it away .. soon x

I finished the second half of the 2014 B-O-T-M from Erin...

I have quilted around the blocks and while I am deciding what to do in the centre I have attached the binding and am LOOKING at it xx lol x

 

I quickly layered and quilted a baby quilt ....

 

...and finished making the top of my RETIREMENT quilt ..

I have to decide what to do ... if anything with the borders x It currently measures 68.5 inches .... and I need a BIG piece of wadding x You may remember the girls I work with made me signature pieces .. that I have used as centres for Dresden blocks..

We are going out for a meal to-night and will be able to show them where I am up to x It may take me another twelve months to layer and quilt ... but its half way there xx lol x

... It is dark and hail stoning ...so the snow will be gone soon xx

OH! The wonderful Postman just came xx .. glad its him out there not me xx He brought me my first 2 Brit Bee blocks..

THIS YEAR....

...Congleton Quilt Group are running a foundation pieced B-O-T-M ... you know me .. I like a B-O-T-M .. this one is also a miniature!! .. and I do like to challenge myself .. so I thought .. why not?

For each month there are 4 blocks to make ... January are done ..

... having done , and enjoyed these .. I looked around for another foundation B-O-T-M ... and found one .. posted by Kirsty at www.quietplay.blogspot.com .....Off I went thinking .. how hard can it be!!!!!

WELL.. hard !! I spent ages on this one ...

I like it now its done .. but wont be doing it again!! lol x I used some of the fabric from the sale as my potential borders x...

It was only after I finished I read that this is one of the EASY patterns!... oh well! we will see how far I get xx  it can always become a cushion!! lol x

YOU KNOW...

... when you go to the SALE..... and you say .....

"I only want some white/cream on white.... and when I find it I will go home..."... and you know the only person who believes you is a complete stranger you pass in the street!!

WELL.... there was some fabric that is perfect for a B-O-T-M.. OK I haven't started it .. but I can now ...

... and some for that project I was thinking about ..

... and you always need backing .. don't you?..

DODGING....

... housework can be exhausting ... however because I'm tough I have kept at it xx I have managed to find plenty of "work" in the sewing department to keep me going x

I began checking out the tops waiting for layering/quilting....

I managed to find a few...

I recon I will be kept busy for a while ...

I have a top ready to layer .. and another nearly done .... have to get some more wadding ..no rest for me xx lol x...

I am Queen for my Brit Bee in February.. fabric cut .. instructions written ... and ready to post...

I have asked for a churn dash .. with a centre that makes the maker HAPPY and is FUN to make ...

well I had fun anyway xx

When I was shopping today I found a Christmas toy .. was £3.00... now £0.40p ...was claimed immediately...

but don't worry

someone else is waiting .....

TODAY IS THE DAY....

.... that my youngest grandson goes to Australia x We have had a week of goodbyes ..... and today I contemplated hibernating and descending into a soggy mess x BUT... you know what its like .. the sun decided to shine ... and it has been frosty over night and the air is crisp and breathable ... and the dogs need walking ... and THATS LIFE for you ... you lay plans ... and they change xx

SO.. the dogs are walked .. and going out again later ..... the sun is still shining .. and I'm not that person anyway xx

I finished a cardigan .. FOR ME!!!..and did my best to get some pictures that show the true colour... not happening x ...

it is a lovely purple/blue with flecks of red...

I tried with the light on ... and out side!..

you just have to believe me!! lol x I have recently been seeing clothes with odd buttons ... so I joined in the trend....

......In 1971/72 the UK went from imperial to metric currency and for about 12 months before that the price of goods was shown in BOTH ........ the pattern I used .. (what do you mean that woman is wearing a wig!!).....

.....has BOTH prices ... mmm I think it is time it was used x My mum remembers buying it ... and was going to do it ... one day !... sound familiar! lol x The price was  ONE  SHILLING ... cant get a pattern for one POND now !! ... my grandsons don't even know what a shilling was!... now I feel OLD! Talk about living history xx

.... off to play with some purple fabric now x

ps..... I did (for a fleeting moment!) contemplate housework as a way to keep busy ...... the urge didn't last thank goodness x

THIS WEEKEND ...

... is our last one with James before he goes to Australia ... and Tuesday will be my dads 85 th birthday ..SO.. we went out for dinner .. and had TWO cakes x

I made dads cake ..

we only put a few candles on as we did not want to MELT the cake xx lo x

The cake for James was bought ...

I did not feel up to the request!!

We went to Adams to EAT cake ...

mm I think James likes his pillow x

LAST NIGHT ...

... was the return of Sandbach Quilt group. We had tea and biscuits (sadly no cake! lol )  catching up .. and laughter x Subs paid for the year .. and a talk from supporters of Hope House.. this is our charity for 2015.. it is our local children's hospice ... and inspired by a member who died last year and was a long time supporter.

As it was the NEW year we also had our first challenge of the year. The ladies got a pack containing 12 charm squares... the challenge being to make SOMETHING!!!

As the person who sets the challenge I had to make the "something" suggestions!! lol x SO I made ..

a little bag and a bookmark with the bits I had left over x

a set of placemats ...

... a mini quilt that has been claimed for a little girls dolls pram x AND..

.. a table runner x

They have until March .. just need to wait and see now .. what SOMETHINGS they come up with x... watch this space x
