I'M STILL...

.. working away at my swoon blocks ... and as I work I have been thinking about swaps .. and who takes part in them.

IF you are the sort of person who...likes all your blocks to be exactly the same size ...  swaps are NOT for you x

I do attempt to get them the same .. but somehow .. there is usually a difference! I don't set out to do it .. it just happens .. if its a swap or not ... so I'm happy with whatever comes to me ... a bit of fudging and fluffing and they can be made to fit each other xx If like me you are happy with this .. then swaps ARE for you x

IF you are the sort of person who.... likes all your points to be perky , lined up and pointed ... swaps are NOT for you x

I like to see perky points .. and do try to achieve them .. but sometimes they just don't make it xx For this reason I'm happy with the efforts of other swappers on my behalf ... but when the quilting is done and a bit of embellishment added .. who notices anyway? lol x If you feel like this ... then swaps ARE for you x

IF you are the sort of person who likes all your colours to be the same .... swaps are NOT for you x

Everyone has different perceptions of colour .. so .. you need to be specific and name a colour and manufacturer.. or send out your own fabric! If like me you are happy with others interpretation of colour .. or you name a theme .. Christmas or Halloween for example ... then swaps ARE for you x

SO .. they are my thoughts .. and why swaps ARE for me xx Do you have any more?

In the mean time here are my latest completed swoon blocks ... the recipient of these wanted coral and teal mm .. well this is my interpretation of those colours ..

and then red and aqua...

(ooh!look .. I managed a few perky points!! lol )

They don't make it easy with their colour choices do they? lol x

I don't like swaps because of deadlines, I can't even keep up with BOM's. Envious of those who can do either. Swooning over the Swoon blocks, may need to go dig out that pattern.

Your points are definitely perky enough for me!
I like the challenge of doing a block outside my comfort zone, so participating in a bee or a swap, is for me! Just not too many at a time....

Your swooning is going great guns! well done you.

The swoons are great and yes swaps aren't for everyone but I do wish that those that do them abide by the rules and don't get really behind. You've never been a problem swapper but some of my participants have been and it takes some of the fun out of it for me.

I have enough deadlines in my daily life so swaps are not for me but I do swoon over swoons

I love those colours! And your description is bang on. No matter what I do, if I make one good block the next one can never be as good. Even if I swear I do things the exact same!

Love the swoon blocks, colours are great! Swaps...well...I get all entheused and love making them but often am a bit sad with what comes my way. I don't think I am a fussy one, but it is sad getting something very different from what you have asked for! But I am happy I did at least get something!!

Yes, I agree completely with what you say about swaps Diane, I'm afraid that my swapping days are well and truely over now, after I was left speechless by one swapper, about my block that I had made for her! I, for one, was always thankful for any block anyone sent me, and never complained, even when they were fairly bad! But, alas, others are not so friendly!
Thats enough, I love your blocks!

I think for any swap you have to appreciate the block in the spirit it was made, not everyone can achieve perfection. I don't do swaps any more but only because I no longer make quilts with blocks. Love this you have on here. Why are they called swoon blocks?

Deadlines ! And too many decisions ! Those are my bugbears! Love how the fabric choices make the blocks look really different !

I still do swaps but have cut way back on the numbers. I don't expect perfection in blocks I receive, but always try to send perfect blocks (I achieve this maybe 10% of the time) and am always thrilled when I receive a perfect or near perfect block. I have been unhappy a few times though when I haven't received anything. In the Get your Hex On swap I never received one piece for my flower ball. What a drag. I will make it myself some day. In another swap with 12 people I received 7 blocks... And several times I have received blocks that were so poorly made that they were falling apart when I took them out of the envelope or were absolutely misshapen. Boo. But I resewed them or tossed them. Those are my bug bears but I love connecting with others around the world so I keep doing swaps.
