JUST TIME...

.. to get this post in before I get ready and go to work.. phew!

Adam and James have been for tea tonight ..... AND I have also managed to get some sewing in. I decided that if I have to piece together fabric for the back of the owl quilt.... I may as well make it a double sided one. SO, here it is..

A simple solution, that has used up a bit of fabric, so now there is a sort of vague scoop in the stash!!!! lol

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho its off to work I go...

WHEN I MADE THE OWL TOP....

.... I had a size in mind, this was dictated by a piece of wadding that I found in my stash xx

SO... when it came to putting borders on ....WHY.... did I make it TWICE the size of the wadding?

NO I don't know either!! x

OH WELL! I have a piece of wadding that will come in useful...later x

NOW I have to think about the backing...YES I have a piece that would have fitted with NO joining lol x Not tonight though... I am off to quilt group in Congleton, first one after the Easter break

I took mum and dad up to Bridgemere Garden World and Nursery... VERY BIG garden centre!!.. today, we had a good old browse, and ate dinner, mum and dad both did some spending ... while  I was VERY good and spent NOTHING... then we were on the way out and I spotted these..

NOW.... they were 3 pairs for £1.99 AND so much FUN, I just had to buy them!!(LOTS of different patterns...I fell for these!)

WHAT?

Dickens AGAIN! I am waiting for a book I actually WANT to read! there MUST be some on the list!!

To-day I WAS going to work on the latest New-York-Beauty block... however I woke up with an idea, and I kept thinking about it... even to the fabric I wanted to use.... this is how far I have got..

KEEPING THE POST OFFICE GOING....

...seems to be my mission at the moment!! I was there again today, I sent the 2 Mystery Round-Robin blocks off. Also a parcel for Sally and Blair , AND I have my See-Saw partner for the Halloween swap... so that went off today. This is my starter block...

ALSO.... Having decided that I would NOT buy any more fabric or thread .... the shops send me e-mails to say they have SALES!!! WHAT am I to do? I HAVE to keep the postman in a job!!

Here is the first parcel that came today xx..(NO PINK!!)

I worked on the cot bumper today

I found some alphabet blocks that I sewed together and added ribbons onto it...

I don't have a cot to try it out on... so used the top bunk!!

It could have done with being a bit deeper I think.. but not bad for a first try

TO DAY...

...when I went shopping I spent some time talking to a friend of mine, during the conversation she  told me how she cleans her WHOLE house EVERY day!!! Now I fully admit to being ...one of those ... who HATES housework, and I rush through it so that I can do other things .... but EVERY DAY!! she needs a hobby! Made me want to sew EVEN MORE than usual xx

I finished off the baby quilt...( waited for the rain to stop so that I could photograph it out side!! I gave up and took the picture INSIDE xx)

just simple zig-zag quilting along the lines of the pattern..

It can go across the banister to await the next request xx

I also started a new project, I was asked if it is possible to make a bumper for a cot... you know that goes around and ... SUPPOSEDLY ... stops the baby banging its head, and, keeping out drafts xx

Will show you tomorrow how I get on.... I call it designing... really I am playing with fabric lol xx

I noticed to day that quite a few of the "thank you" notes I have received recently are PINK... what IS going on around here ? lol x

CAN YOU HEAR....

me singing...FREEDOM xx sorry about the lack of a tune!! I am sure you appreciate the sentiment though xx

I don't know if this qualifies as a PINK post, or if it is more RED... but I managed to get this picture ... between downpours (WHAT drought!!)....

This is a favourite corner of mine in the garden. The flame bush was bought for me by Adam many years ago, and the Asa was planted by my mum ...also many years ago...

Being at work CRAMPS my sewing.... however it does not STOP it. This last week I have been making this baby quilt.

I wanted to try out the block placement for a quilt I want to make

and felt if I made a baby quilt then it will come in handy when the next one is requested

there are ALWAYS baby quilts needed!!

I like to have a practice for blocks

and for the fabric placement

that way I get mistakes out of my system... mostly!

So, it seems as if I will have at least one project to work on on my nights off ... lol xx

one more..

... night to go and freedom returns, and ...of course... the chance to sew once more. I wonder if I will be able to find any projects to work on? mmmm we will have to see x

This quilt was one I made a couple of years ago... using PINK !!

I just sort of "went with it!" and this was the result!!

Some things worked and I have used the techniques, and others I did not do again.... that's what its all about xx

I had this in the post today...

so a little light reading after tea for me, WHY is PINK following me around this month? lol

My magnolia is coming along lovely..

mind you the forecast is for cold, wind and April showers... so fingers crossed, it is in a sheltered corner x

This little wall hanging was made a couple of years ago..

I won it in a raffle...  well could not give it back now could I?

This is the wash thing in the bath...

I got it free with some shower gel... well had to keep it!

AND this is my dressing gown..

bought for me one Christmas by mum and dad.....

PINK THINGS

I was looking for the fabric to go in the "In The Bag" challenge and I noticed that... for someone who says she does not "DO" PINK I do have quite a bit of it!!!

This was just a small selection that I did not even have to try and find!!!...

I also found these..

Maybe I need to make something with all this PINK .... or not !! lol

You have to have something you don't use or its not a stash... is it?

CAUGHT UP

It was quilt group in Sandbach last night, this is only a small group, but, it is a friendly one... and they have some really good ideas. Last night we had a lady come to talk about the origins and development of lace making in the UK. She was funny and interesting, and kept us all entertained for well over an hour and a half. Next time we have a challenge being announced... and a trader.. mmm wonder if I will be able to resist buying fabric? You never know!!

You may have noticed I have a new button/thingy on the side bar.(In the bag ugly fabric challenge) I resisted this one for A WHOLE 24 HOURS!! THEN I CAVED IN AND..... JOINED IN... there is plenty of time left ...if you have as much will power as me!! I have to admit it was VERY easy to fill the fabric requirements xx

The weather man said ... go out in the morning if you want to stay dry... So I did..... and I stayed dry. Mind you it has been dry... ALL DAY !!

BUT it did mean that once I came home from mum and dads I had the rest of the afternoon to settle down to making this weeks New-York-Beauty. I decided to go with the darker colours again...

I now have 3 dark and 3 light... with 4 weeks to go. I think it will have to be 2 of each... unless I change my mind of course!! lol

EXCITING PINK!!

I did not think I would be using those 2 words in the same sentence!! But I will xx

Last year my mum and dad bought me 2 magnolia plants, They were planted and fingers were crossed that they would survive the winter.

2 weeks ago they still resembled dried up sticks! THEN the leaves slowly appeared.

TODAY I made the EXCITING  (!) discovery of this PINK (!) development...

There I did it and got them both into the same sentence WoooHooo!

Will keep you posted as to whether it develops further xx

New-York-Beauty block

The latest block in this quilt -a-long was issued on Monday..... I still had not done the last one!! SO I thought I had better get organised and make it! xx

So I made a start last night by choosing the fabrics I wanted to use.

As you will remember I said I wanted to move away from the light/rainbow colours that I used in the first few, last  time I started this by making the blue/purple one..

SO .... what did I go with?...

I really like it, it is now a cushion

NOW I had better start and look at the next one xx

OH! I just remembered I was asked why these (which have now gone to Australia)..

where rejects? Well. the colours (PINK) did not work for me, and, while as 2 halves they laid flat ...they worked. As 1 whole they WOULD NOT play nice together... no matter what I did!! So they became the placemats xx
