DO YOU...

... put that all important label on the back of your quilt? I do sometimes .... I mean to lots of times xx I usually write the message out, AND I am always amazed when I read the label and realise ... how long ago I made it, the special message I left for my self, the reminder of the competitions / challenges they were for!!  And so it goes xx I have MANY good intentions! .. and we ALL know what road they are paved with!

Well. the Quilters Gallery To-dream-of-spring Mini Quilt Challenge is to have a label. I was showing Josh (grandson no 1) my quilt and telling him about the label...... a vague memory stirred and he and I went on a dangerous quest.... into my sewing room!! and found this...

I won this in about the year 2000!!! Used it once then never again! Josh said ... lets go for it Grandma!! ... what more motivation did I need?

WE WENT FOR IT ..

AND.... we made some labels ...the ink just ran a little bit! BUT that may have been us getting a BIT excited that it worked!..........AND now they are sewn on ...

We are going to prepare some other material ... white is a bit boring! .. but it was a good start x

NOW... what else needs a label!!?

Keep smiling

Diane xx

And don't forget that, after soaking the fabric, you can tip what is left back into the bottle and reuse it. I have had some for years. I tend not to use it any more as I just print directly to the fabric without treating it, but anything I label is not going to get washed.

I too have a bottle of bubble jet that I've never used.. it's such a good idea, I must pull my finger out!

OOH, I must investigate this, I am very slack with labelling but this would make me better I am sure.

I am half way through my Bubble Jet Set, but haven't used it in a bit. I have gotten a little lazy about labels. Glad yours turned out so well!

My daughter made a fantastic memory quilt with this stuff. Photos printed onto white, and then incorporated into a quilt. Fantastic stuff!

I have just started making myself label a quilt when it's done. I use the alphabet stitches on my sewing machine. It really doesn't take long. I've never used the Bubble Jet Set, Your labels looked so good! I really liked them!

Wrote a comment this morning and realised I wasn't logged in...lost my comment so will try again now!!

Have had some lovely visitors this weekend from Queensland. They are fellow Citroënists, Jenni & Peter. Jenni is a patchwork and quilter of about 4 decades and was giving me lots of great advice.Funnily enough she was talking to me about labels and her advice was to attach the label before quilting and so, ensure that the label is also quilted onto the item so that it cannot be removed. I think this is a great idea for generations to come to know who, where and when your item wa made. I love that I have a number of keepsakes of my 2 grandmothers and also my Mum and Dad and I know Blair, my son, will want to know who they belonged to. Seeing as they are not quilts I will have to organise a document with photos for him. I am sure your children and grandchildren, in the years to come, will cherish your made items and be grateful to know their heritage.

What a great way to spend some time with Josh Diane. Keep it up, it sounds like fun.

Love

I used the Printed Treasures sheets and they work pretty well. A white label is better than no label.
